The conference has historically had three divisions - the East, West, and South - but formed a fourth division, the North, before the 2004-2005 school year. It is overseen by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The Central Connecticut Conference was established in 1984. The CCC sponsors the following sports: Football, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Soccer, Girls' Volleyball, Girls' Swimming, Field Hockey, Boys' Cross Country and Girls' Cross Country in the fall; Boys' Basketball, Girls' Basketball, Wrestling, Boys' Swimming, Ice Hockey, Gymnastics, Boys' Indoor Track and Girls' Indoor Track in the Winter; and Baseball, Softball, Boys' Track, Girls' Track, Boys' Tennis, Girls' Tennis, Boys' Lacrosse, Girls' Lacrosse, Boys' Golf, Girls' Golf and Boys' Volleyball in the Spring. Note that not every school has ateam for that every sport. ==CCC Expansion== In 2008, the Policy Board of the Central Connecticut Conference, voted to expand from 30 to 32 teams at a special meeting held at the Newington Board of Education. With the addition of Tolland and Rocky Hill high schools, the Central Connecticut Conference became the largest high school athletic conference in Connecticut. Six members of the former Northwest Conference joined the CCC the same year. Also in 2008, the football divisions were "realigned" due to the larger conference. In the 2015-16 school year, Avon High School joined the CCC, to make a total of 33 teams. This made the conference change back to 3 divisions of 11 teams, with a blue and a white section in each division, with one having 5 teams and the other having 6. Avon High School moved from the NCCC, where they were the largest school.
